Knowing Christ
At The River, we believe that God wants each and every person to know Him and be
intimately connected and journeying with Him. Getting on the journey with God is a
matter of leaving the broad road and entering the narrow gate; to join God on the
narrow road He is traveling.
For each of us, the details and circumstances of this transition may be different.
However, as we leave the broad road that leads to destruction and make a decision to
travel with Christ, we must go through a discovery and decision process. To begin the
journey with Christ:
Realize you are on a course for destruction.
(Romans 3:23 - "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.")
Realize that Christ has provided a rescue.
(Romans 6:23 - "...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.")
Ask Jesus to save you.
(Romans 10:13 - "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.")
Forsake your sinking ship.
(Luke 24:46-47 - "The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,
and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in His name to all nations.")
Trade control for "crew status."
(Romans 10:9-10 - "If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and
believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.")
If you are ready to switch roads and get on the journey with God, you can do
so by praying a simple prayer of surrender to Christ:
"Dear Jesus. I realize I need you to be in control of my life. I'm sorry for my sins.
Thank you for dying on the cross to pay for my sins. I believe that you rose from the
dead and are able to save me. I ask you to forgive me of my sins. Please come into my
life and teach me how to follow you from now on."
If you prayed this prayer, you've taken the first step toward a life-long journey with Christ!
However, it doesn't end there! If you'd like details on the next steps, please contact us
