Meet the Pastor
I'm a SC native who grew up in Lancaster until I was fourteen years old. I spent my childhood summers fishing the Wateree River with my granddaddy and skiing the Lake with my family.

First came Lisa, my high school classmate, college sweetheart, my wife since 1995, and the mother of my wonderful daughter and son. It was Lisa’s family who brought me to know the next person—Jesus Christ—and he changed my life radically when I met him as a 19 year old sophomore in college. He has continued to influence my life more than anyone else as my relationship with Him grows deeper. Being in relationship with Christ freed me from a destructive lifestyle and gave me a clear sense of direction and purpose for the first time in my life.
It’s my life’s passion and purpose to help other people experience the joy, the peace, the purpose, and the transformation that Christ has given me. Without a shadow of doubt, I’m convinced that Jesus was and still is passionate about meeting people right where they are. Regardless of their past mistakes or present baggage, Jesus stepped beyond “religious” circles to engage people in relationship. He cut through the traditional religious barriers of the day as he modeled the love and truth of God to people, helped people, and taught people with his actions as much as his words.
I’m convinced that those who follow Jesus should share his passion and his approach. It’s this conviction, more than anything else, that shapes who we are as a church.
So, if you’re curious about Jesus but jaded with religion…if you’re
hungry for truth but tired of empty tradition…if you want to know God but you’ve been hurt by someone who claims to know
him…Jesus understands, and so do we. You can find what you’re longing for, what you need, at The River.
On the Journey with you,
