Vision/Values

The River Church is an innovative church in the Camden/Lugoff area. We have members who have come from many different denominations making us non-denominational in many aspects. We have chosen to affiliate with the Southern Baptist Convention for the purpose of missions and to develop other ministries together. We often say: “We are Christian with a capital ‘C’ and baptist with a little ‘b’”.

Here at The River our vision is simple:

We see ourselves helping people come into and grow in a vibrant relationship with God as we model loving God, loving people, and serving the community and world around us. You might say our “key value” is relationship. We believe relationships are powerful and that relationship with Jesus Christ, in particular, is positively transforming and practically relevant both for our eternity and our everyday life. For that reason, everything we do to accomplish our vision is meant to start and build relationship with God and people. Here are some of the things you’ll find at The River:

• You’ll find a casual “come as you are” environment, where everyday people like you can connect with God and other people who are at varying stages in their journey with God.

• You’ll hear and see powerful, practical messages that won’t leave you bored, confused, or fuzzy as to what it has to do with you. You won’t forget the images and stories used to help you make sense of and apply the truths of the Bible to your relationship with God and your everyday life.

• You’ll hear (and sing along when you’re ready) modern music with ancient truths that will encourage you, challenge you, and help you draw closer to God.

• You’ll have the opportunity to connect with others over coffee and doughnuts on Sunday mornings, as well as the chance to journey with others in home-based “Life Boats” that meet at different times throughout the week and different locations throughout our community.

• You’ll find opportunities to discover and use your strengths, gifts, and talents for God and make a difference in our community and our world.
